General Massage

Pregnancy can bring with it many changes in the body. Massage therapy can help relieve some of the symptoms such as muscle tension from postural changes, relieve sore achy feet from fallen arches, reduce swelling in the legs and feet, help soothe tender breasts, and promote relaxation for a better night’s sleep.

This massage treatment can help you feel more comfortable and relaxed in your changing body. Specific positioning is used during pregnancy. A comfy pregnancy pillow supports the growing belly comfortably in a face down position in the second trimester. A side-lying position will be used in third trimester to ensure baby is safe and comfortable. Your comfort and safety is our #1 priority during the treatment.

I have completed additional training in pregnancy massage through Trimesters Massage Therapy Education and Perinatal Massage Therapy Education. As well as Postpartum Lymphatic and Breast Care. These courses have taught me how to safely and effectively treat the prenatal and postpartum mother.

Postpartum, also known as the fourth trimester, are the months following birth. It is a key time of healing for new mothers, and massage can help encourage healing in the body while also relaxing the mind. This massage treatment uses a variety of modalities to create a massage unique to your wellness goals.

Massage therapy in postpartum may include, but is not limited to:

~Manual lymphatic drainage to reduce fluid retention in different areas of the body
~Relaxation massage to help regulate the nervous system, and improve sleep
~Swedish massage to alleviate muscle tension in the neck, back and shoulder due to breastfeeding, carrying baby, or sleeping in different positions.
~Breast massage to relieve sore and swollen breasts, including blocked ducts
~C-section scar massage (minimum 6-8 weeks after surgery and completely healed)*
~And so much more.

*Scar massage treatment on incision sites can begin around 6-8 weeks post-surgery if there are no complications. Both manual massage techniques and the Dolphin Neurostim can be used to treat scars. The Dolphin Neurostim delivers a micro current to the tissue which re-polarizes the tissue and increases flexibility and sensation in the scar while reducing pain and adhesions.

Lymphatic Facial Massage

Manual lymph drainage (MLD) is a light touch technique that gently moves the skin to encourage lymph movement. It can help reduce fluid accumulation and swelling as a result of many causes including surgery, injury, sinus congestion, pregnancy and more. MLD can also be used for pain relief, relaxation and general well-being. I have completed level 2 of the manual lymph drainage training with The Dr. Vodder School, to ensure I can provide safe and effective treatment.

Lymphatic Body Massage

This massage treatment is a stand-alone scar treatment, using a combination of manual massage techniques and the Dolphin Neurostim. The Dolphin Neurostim delivers a micro current to the tissue which re-polarizes the scar tissue. This increases flexibility and sensation in the scar while reducing pain and adhesion. Each micro current treatment will reduce the density of the scar by about 24%, which will bring the scar to a more neutral tissue density after about 4-5 treatments.

*Scar massage treatment on surgical incision sites can begin around 6-8 weeks post-surgery if there are no complications, and it has completely healed.

* Please note, scar release massage can be included in any other massage treatment as well. This specific treatment is for the focus solely on a scar.
